Space Trends in 2022

On this international day of human space flight, also called Yuri's Night, I am making an overview of the current trends in my work area. One of these, the competition between nations, was already discussed last week. A review article from two years ago was about the applications of satellites in everyday life.

Today's article got published on the Flanders Space website.

The photo shows the first launch of the space shuttle Columbia on April 12, 1981. I turned sixteen that day and followed the event with great interest. (Columbia later made a fatal re-entry on February 1, 2003, leading to the end of the space shuttle program.)
