Knowledge is silver, but skill is gold. In the Middle Ages, new craft brought great wealth to the emerging cities. This is still the case in our current economy. Employers are desperately looking for employees with expertise. Craftsmanship is also beautiful. Gute Technik ist immer schön.
Craftsmanship is valuable because it takes talent, time, patience,
discipline,
and intrinsic motivation to acquire it. This is precisely what makes craftsmanship so rare:
today there is too little time and patience to allow craftsmanship to mature.
Due to skilled manpower shortage, young people must show craftsmanship
immediately and get discouraged early. Let us revalue craftsmanship.
